Russell has been in his current position with the University since 2000. His prior experience includes a variety of employment in both government agencies and the private sector. He holds a Master of Public Administration degree from the University of Georgia.
Russell is the manager of the UGA Office of Fire Safety. He is responsible for implementing all Fire and Life Safety programs on University of Georgia properties across the State of Georgia including the Main Campus in Athens, satellite facilities such as the Tifton and Griffin campuses and other university facilities like 4-H Camps and the Skidaway Institute in Savannah, GA. He is closely with the State Fire Marshal’s Office, the Athens-Clarke Country Fire Department and Emergency Services and other university stakeholders.
