Universal Waste

Universal Waste includes nickel-cadmium and other batteries, waste lamps, or mercury containing equipment that no longer serves its intended purpose. Universal Waste containers must be closed, labeled with the words “Universal Waste," marked with an accumulation start date, and removed within one year of the accumulation start date. UGA's Universal Waste lamps are discarded and recycled through the Facilities Management Division by submitting a work order.  Click here to submit an FMD work order.  Universal Waste batteries can be picked up per request or by emailing the UGA ESD hazardous waste team.  Any mercury containing equipment is considered hazardous waste and a pickup request must be submitted through the Chematix system.
