Matt joined the University in 2014 after spending 14 years in private industry. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science from Valdosta State University. Matt enjoys spending time outdoors and cooking.
Matt manages the Environmental Affairs group at ESD. His group oversees the Environmental Compliance and food safety programs for the university. Some of the environmental compliance areas include air permitting, stormwater management and wastewater. ESD works with Athens-Clarke County Environmental Health on the food safety areas of campus including UGA Dining Services, the Georgia Hotel and Conference Center and UGA Athletics. Environmental Affairs’ compliance area is primarily in Athens but also includes UGA facilities throughout the entire state.
