How to Define Undefined Chemical Containers (specify locations)

"Undefined chemicals" are chemicals that appear in your chemical inventory but do not have a specific location defined such as a flammable cabinet, a refrigerator, or a shelf.  Undefined chemicals will be listed in your Chematix inventory under the storage unit called undefined.  The undefined storage unit is a default virtual storage unit.  You must have at least one other storage unit set up in Chematix to which you can transfer chemicals.  Click here for storage unit setup instructions.

Follow these steps to define locations for all chemicals:

  1. Login to Chematix (https://chematix.uga.edu) and click the Inventory tab.

  2. Click the Manage My Inventory link under the Inventory Tab.

  3. Click the checkbox next to the lab listing where you need to define chemical container locations.

  4. Click the Search Active Lab Inventory button.

  5. On the next screen, look in the Laboratory/Storage Unit column for chemicals listed in the storage unit called "Undefined".

  6. Click the checkbox next to each container to be transferred.

  7. Click Transfer Containers within My Laboratory Locations button.

  8. Select the destination Lab Location and specify the Storage Unit using the drop-down selections on the next screen.

  9. Click Transfer.
